Cherries

British

Cherries

  • High in melatonin
  • Great source of potassium, calcium, vitamin A and folic acid
  • Heart health

Did you know we have been eating cherries in the UK since the Middle Ages?  They are a quintessential part of our national diet and we have growers in the UK who have been farming cherries across the generations. Cherries are packed with health benefits including being especially high in polyphenols, a large group of plant chemicals that help fight cellular damage, reduce inflammation, and promote overall health.

Blueberries

British

Blueberries

  • FILLED with goodness.
  • One serving of blueberries provides as many health-promoting antioxidants as five servings of broccoli

Blueberry pie anyone?  Many people think blueberries are only grown in USA – think again, we’re blueberry people too! Our specially selected varieties are grown by British farmers from June to September.  Did you know, blueberries are naturally covered in a protective wax called a bloom which acts as a sunscreen and is a sign of freshness..?

Raspberries

Maravilla

Raspberries

  • Low in fat and high in fibre for a healthy digestion
  • Rich source of flavonoids quercetin and gallic acid
  • Improve your co-ordination, memory and mood

Maravilla raspberries are plump, soft to touch and melt-in-the-mouth… just like a top quality raspberry should!  Loved by the littles fingers (and soft enough for them to eat as a snack) and by more ‘mature’ hands we are the only people in the UK who grow this world-beating variety. With the perfect balance of natural sweetness and just the slightest hint of sour each and every raspberry is hand selected by our dedicated pickers.   And they offer more than just great taste:

Strawberries

Scrumptious

Strawberries

  • Packed with vitamins C
  • High in phytonutrients and antioxidants
  • Great for a healthy heart

These little ruby red jewels are the soft, juicy, taste of summer for most of us, with scientists even proving that just the smell of these beautiful berries makes us feel happy! Our British farmers are a picky bunch and select only the very best varieties, so look for Zara and Katrina varieties on-pack. They can add a vibrant look, sweet taste and all sorts of dribbly goodness to a smoothie, on porridge, as a snack, with cream (‘g-old school’!!), or if you’re feeling more adventurous in a salad, with mint or basil or as an alternative butter to nut-butter.

Blackberries

Victoria

Blackberries

  • Packed full of vitamin C, K and and E
  • High antioxidant levels
  • Can be paired with strong flavours

Black is the new blue…Victoria Sweet Blackberries are big winners with the whole family for two key reasons: health & taste! From a HEALTH perspective they’re packed with fibre, Vitamin C, and low in calories, carbs and fat… literally good for every body. And when it comes to TASTE, their full-bodied sweeter flavour (completely different to small, thin, hedgerow berries) makes them both an ideal snack and a versatile addition to sweet or savoury dishes. Also a perfect addition to a cheeky cocktail!

We challenged the wonderful  @alexandradudley  to create some delicious twists on tired canapes and it's safe to say she has impressed us with this one! Introducinngggggg, these GORGEOUS spicy prawns teamed with a Maravilla raspberry, ginger & chilli jam. Alexandra told us; “The prawns have a good kick to them which marries perfectly with the gingery, zesty sweetness of the jam. I only use Maravilla raspberries for my chilli jam as they are premium, British grown and always beautifully juicy." We couldn't agree more! Spice up your dinner party skills and look out for our delicious Maravilla raspberries on your next trip to the supermarket ... they won't disappoint

Something as simple as a starter can really elevate the evening from just supper to a bit of an 'event'." With this in mind, we have reinvented tired, boring old canapes and whipped up some TASTY alternatives, using fresh, premium berries...Trust us these recipes will have you running back to the kitchen!! Today marks the beginning of British Food Fortnight, and as such, we wanted to introduce you to Kevin Reeves at Flavourfresh, part of our co-operative of British growers! Kevin's been growing at the now 15.55 acre Flavourfresh site in Lancashire since the late 1960s and tells us about his favourite berry: 'The newest berry in the Flavourfresh fold is Driscoll's Sweet Victoria blackberry. This berry is a stand-out variety with an exquisitely full-bodied flavour, sweet juiciness and a rich plumpness with no rival.' Our Victoria blackberries only have 49 calories per 100g, making them the perfect snack! Blackberries contain a wide array of important nutrients including potassium, magnesium and calcium, as well as vitamins A, C, E and most of our B vitamins. Given that our Victoria blackberries are twice the size of normal blackberries, that's double the amount of goodness too!

Our top dinner party dessert recipe is this deliciously bright and tangy Zara strawberry sorbet from the Crazy Delicious queen herself,  @alphafoodie  This recipe is dairy-free, gluten-free, refined sugar-free, naturally sweetened, and can be made vegan! If you're looking to make it a little naughty, you could even add in alcohol. There are tons of options such as tequila, Champagne, prosecco, Cointreau, vodka, rum, rosé, and other wines all work well with strawberries. Just make sure to only keep it to around 1tbsp so as not to thin the sorbet too much! Swipe across for recipe and ingredients.
